MARVEL Realm of Champions is a free 3D action mobile video game wherein you can delve into an alternate world that expands the popular Marvel Universe. Developed by Kabam Games, Inc., this game is a 3-vs-3 multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that lets you control your all-time favorite Marvel characters. This game offers both PvE and PvP content and is considered the follow-up to Marvel Contest of Champions.
Is MARVEL Realm of Champions free?
The classic Marvel Universe is a fictional universe where the stories published by Marvel Comics usually take place. It’s common for the franchise to have multiverses that feature different versions of its characters, as well as different narratives that tie all changes together. In MARVEL Realm of Champions—a free-to-play real-time RPG—the classic universe is given an all-new look and lore for its fans, giving them the chance to play as these beloved alternate characters.
You play as a Summoner, who resides on the chaotic planet of Battleworld—and now a bloody war has broken out in the wake of the evil god-king Maestro’s assassination. Similar to other MOBAs, you can collect various Champion characters in the form of Marvel’s finest superheroes and supervillains. You can gear up and upgrade them to dominate the battlefield—whether against AI or real players. Take note of their abilities and roles on the battlefield to gain an edge.
Compared to other Marvel games, however, this one seems to lack a certain nostalgic flair. The environment and character designs look gorgeous but the game design’s pales in comparison to previous titles despite the attention to lore details. Additionally, the PvP ranking can be pretty harsh as the matchmaking of opponents isn’t usually balanced. It can definitely feel like just another MOBA for any dedicated fan.
Another Marvel game
All in all, MARVEL Realm of Champions looks like a great addition to the Marvel Universe’s line-up of multiverses. However, it doesn’t feel ‘original’ most of the time, and trying to climb the leaderboard may take a while due to how matchmaking works here. Nevertheless, it’s still free-to-play and can be a nice introduction to MOBA beginners who also happen to Marvel fans.
